One of the first political firebacks with many symbols of the young Dutch republic. This picture was from about 1580 onwards the standard motive for the liberation of the Seven United Netherlands. The Dutch Freedom virgin with a spear bearing the 'hat of freedom'. The crowned lion rampant with sword in right leg and left the seven arrows of the Netherlands united in the Union of Utrecht (1579).
